My name is Elizabeth Giesbrecht. I was born in Langley and grew up in Chilliwack. After having graduated high school, I moved to Victoria to attend UVic. I was enrolled in the Software Engineering program for three years. It was too hard and too expensive. My partner Matt dropped out of the same program to pursue a job opportunity in software development and encouraged me to do the same. Victoria was stressful because I’d committed myself to too many things and I was afraid that UVic might not work out. Dropping out and running away made sense to me, so Matt and I left Victoria and moved to Comox in May 2022.
After two months of unemployed soul searching I decided that, while the skills I have might land me an internship, I need some more education to feel confident applying to a ‘real job’. I looked into NIC’s web dev programs and decided to apply.
